Where The Wild Things Are

Well it seems anytime we get visitors into San Diego it give us an excuse to do all the touristy stuff we "seem" to never have time for.
Even though we have had a membership to the zoo for the last 5 months or so, it seems the only times I get there is when we have visitors or I am meeting up with my friend who lives down there (which is not often enough).
However that dosn't really count because we use it more as a form of exercise and not so much to stop at every exhibit and admire all the animals.
Although, I have to admit I could skip everything and go straight for the monkeys every time. They truly are my favorite! Something about how human-like they are I guess just amazes me.

My parents had their neighbors/friends from Iowa in town and though I only spent a few hours with them at the zoo It was so great getting to know them better and showing off our fabulous city. We couldn't have asked for better weather. Sunny and 70.

As we approach the end of this month Luke will be 7 months old. I can't believe it. Time goes so fast. I keep thinking he can't already be reaching the milestones he is headed for it seems too soon. Then I am reminded that he is almost over the hump of the first half of his first year.
As you can see 2 teeth-crawling- and his newest favorite thing "blowing raspberries" with his tongue are a few of those milestones he has crossed off. Next come walking and talking - then high school graduation I guess.
But in the meantime I LOVE my "little monkey" and will soak it all in and take all the raspberries I can get.
As for the rest of my life - things are good. But at this time I feel the things I have to share about Luke are much more exciting then the boring things about "me".  What did I ever do with myself "pre-baby".
Until next time...

Video Time

I have posted a few videos to watch. The first is him eating carrots. He obviously does not like them. It is actually the first thing I have found him not to like. He eats EVERYTHING and loves it all.
The other video is of him starting to crawl - well scooting.

you can scroll to the bottom of the page and pause the music to hear the videos.
Enjoy

Work in Progress

Well my computer is up and running.
Now I can't seem to get off of it- every chance I get I keep trying to perfect my blog. It's days like today when I wish I would have majored in computer programing instead of Nursing. I find myself feeling like I am learning a new language trying to decipher all the coding and blog language.
So let me just say - my blog is as good as it is going to be for today and will hopefully continue to improve bit by bit as long as my internet cooperates with me.

Well 2nd week in a row of swimming and He LOVED it. Ok maybe not bold all caps loved it but he is getting more use to it and only cried for the first 5 minutes. He even smiled by the end.  I'm sure I love it more than him but he is coming around.
Ok- so as I stir with the decision to write about this incident or not I have decided the "or not" is not keeping it real. When I started this blog I didn't want to hold anything back and be an example that life is not all roses and smiles and sometime sharing the downs as well as the ups is what life is all about.
So disaster struck on Tuesday- What started as a normal day.. a great day actually even getting my workout in and groceries done by 10am- turned into a moment I will never forget.
He was sitting up in his bumbo chair ... on the counter. (pause for the gasp) and as I turned to put the milk in the fridge... Well you can figure the rest.

Long story short- because taking about it still makes me nauseous- Luke suffered a skull fracture on Tuesday with no other injuries. He is doing fantastic and makes me realize how precious he is!
Thank God babies are made to be durable- I think I am the one who will be "scared" from the incident not him.
You would never know anything happened. He is perfect. In fact more than perfect- I can't get him to stop smiling, laughing or crawling- it is truly the BEST.

And he loves loves loves Charger, always reaching out to pet him. Actually always reaching out for anything right now.  He sees what he wants and gets a look of determination in his eye as he begins to get up on his knees and scoot across the floor. He hasn't quite figured out the knee, hand combo. It's more like knee, belly dive, scoot combo.  But I'm sure it will come faster than I am ready for it.
So all in all it has been a good week.
More swim tomorrow and hopefully he will be all smiles.

Why does nothing go as planned...

Why is it that when you sit down to do something, say blogging... that nothing goes as planned.

When I envisioned my evening  - Luke asleep- Greg at work-Sitting down with a nice dinner (bowl of cereal) and glass of wine in front of me while working on my blog- I was not prepared for the number of obstacles that would come my way.
No I do not have writers block nor do I have a lack of things to update you all on.  No No my internet is down.. kind of. I get 5 minute windows of it working. Therefore for the last week trying to pay bills, order all my babyproffing items and blogging has been a bit of a challenge when every 5 minutes it  goes off line.
So rather than being upset I decide to rent a movie on pay per view and put the blogging aside.
But wait....
the sound on my HD channels and pay-per-view does not work.  Of course that would be too easy.
Ok, so maybe I will read the book I ordered from amzaon- oh but wait instead of sending me the book I ordered instead arrives a fight club video game. I guess I wont be doing that either.
So instead I wallow...

I know, I know life could be worse but UGH.. why can't things just go my way for once.

So I sit here posting anyway "offline" and I'm sure by the time my internet is back up and running and I am able to upload all my photos I will have this all figured out and it won't be a big deal but at the moment I feel like nothing is going my way and all I want to do is whine about it.

But on a lighter note
Luke hit 6 months old this week. And he is growing so perfectly.
He is 27.5" long (85th%tile) and 17.5lbs (51%tile in weight).  He has been cruising along with his schedule now for the last month or so and is doing great. Most nights he sleeps from 6:30-6:30- but once I think he is doing so great we get a night of interrupted sleep making me realize I guess we aren't out of the woods yet.
Usually that seems to happen just when I think I am catching up and planning on doing a "early am workout".   It's weird how a night of sleep deprivation can make you feel like you are in a fog for a period of 24 hours or so and make working out the last thing on my list of "things to do".

But even in the fog- I cherish my weekends. Workout or not I just look forward to the weekends like never before. This weekend is going to be great we have Luke's first swim lesson on Saturday am. I will be sure to take lots of pictures and post them as soon as my internet is up and running.
Then Sunday is breakfast with Candi for her birthday at naked cafe- my favorite!
So I guess I will put up with a little frustration tonight and maybe just tuck myself in early to catch up on sleep and creep out of my fog for the weekend.
